Term Paper

Parents,

I am trying something new. The following is a link to a Google document. It is the same file as the class presentation; however, I believe that students will be able to access this file from school where they cannot view the flash files at school. If there are any problems with this file, please let me know.

How to Make an A in English IV

Parents,
I cannot stress the importance of reading for your student to be successful in this class. English IV is a literature-based class not a grammar class. I will, of course, touch on grammar, but the focus of the class is the literature of Great Britain.

Tests will focus on the literature and essays will be about the literature. Upper-level essays demonstrate that students have, in fact, read the material, paid attention in class, and understand what the literature is about. As you can see, the literature will affect a large portion of the students' overall averages.

If your student's grade falls below your acceptable limit, check to see if he/she is doing the reading. The majority of the homework for this class is reading assignments. If your child does not read the literature, then he/she is most likely going to finish the class with a "D" or possibly a low "C."

Now, I cannot guarentee an "A" if your student does read--that depends on the amount of effort the student puts into the assignment. However, I can guarentee that your student will NOT make an "A" if he/she is not reading.
